Lockbox is private by design. Our approach raises the security and privacy bar in “cloud” computing by incorporating best-in-class capabilities such as strong credentials, electronic keys, digital signatures and end-to-end encryption.
The following sections describe the Lockbox features, operations and components in more detail.
Privacy is more than just security. Privacy requires that the end-user can fully protect and control their information, particularly if it is sensitive or confidential. Lockbox addresses the "cloud privacy" problem by empowering end users to protect their information (using encryption) and control who has access to it (using keys).
The Lockbox platform ensures total privacy using client-side processing, end-to-end encryption, strong credentials, and user-generated keys. This "end-to-end" capability allows truly private collaboration even between end-users who may be using systems behind firewalls and/or inside protected corporate networks.
Lockbox provides the end-user with a very simple process to register, manage users and share content in a Lockbox private workspace. Hidden behind the user interface is some very powerful key management and cryptographic functions to ensure the highest levels of privacy and confidentiality.
Lockbox is engineered to raise the bar on the "status quo" of the secure file-sharing and collaboration industry. We believe that good security and privacy does not need to be "given away" in order to get convenience and ease of use. This section describes how Lockbox has "gone the extra mile" by utilising stronger security and privacy foundations than is common in the industry.
The Lockbox platform encompasses a highly proven suite of security and privacy components. At the perimeter, client-side software controls all encryption and keys. Intermediate is an "encrypted cloud" where Lockbox only knows about users as "labels" and workspaces as sets of encrypted "blobs".
