If you would like to change your passphrase, do the following

  1. Go to the main menu and open the ‘Security’ menu. Then select the ‘Change passphrase’ item.
  2. Enter your current passphrase and press ‘Next’.
  3. Enter your new passphrase and confirm it by retyping it in the second input field. Then press the ‘Change passphrase’ button.
  4. Your passphrase is changed and your credentials are being refreshed instantaneously.
  5. In the last step, you can decide whether to backup your credentials locally.

Lockbox automatically refreshes your local credentials and the credential backup on the Lockbox server, if existing. All other backups of your credentials are not affected by a passphrase change. They can still be used together with your previous passphrase. However, Lockbox strongly recommends to update all credential backups in order to ensure a single valid passphrase.

Do not forget to refresh all credential backups you keep. If you fail to do so, you may not be able to access Lockbox in the future.

Backup Credentials to Lockbox

Backup credentials Step 2

Lockbox strongly recommends to backup your credentials to our server to ensure that you always have a working copy of your credentials available. 1. Go to the main menu and open the ‘Security’ menu. Then select the ‘Backup credentials to Lockbox’ item.
  2. Enter your passphrase and press ‘Proceed’.

  1. Go to the main menu and open the ‘Security’ menu. Then select the ‘Export email identity’ item.
  2. Click the ‘Proceed’ button in order to generate your email identity.
  3. To save the corresponding certificate, click the ‘Save As’ button, navigate to the destination folder in the file browser and click ‘Save’.
  4. Alternatively, to install the certificate with your local email client, select the ‘Install’ button and follow the instructions of the certificate import wizard.

Your email certifcate is bound to the email address you use to login to your Lockbox.

Lockbox email certificates enable you to exchange encrypted/signed emails with other Lockbox. In order to do so, you are required to install the email certificates of other Lockbox users from your contact list in your mail client.
