Lockbox users form relationships when they share boxes. You can utilise these relationships to extend secure information sharing beyond your boxes.
The contact feature enables you to obtain certificates from an acquainted user. If you export these certificates into your email client, you can exchange encrypted and signed emails with them.

Lockbox allows you to get in contact with users with whom you are not yet acquainted, e.g. because you don’t share a box. All you need to know is the email address they use to login to the Lockbox client.
To create a contact, do the following:
The contact code is available in the table of the 'Manage Contacts' dialog after sending out the contact request. There you can click the button with the clipboard icon to copy the contact code to the clipboard.
The contacted user can decline a contact request.

Export the public key certificate of a user from your contact list. The certificate is stored in the form of a .p7c, and a .p7b, file which can be imported into your email client.
The acquainted user must have an available email identity for this operation to complete successfully. Check the ‘has email id’ column of the entry in the contact list. If the identity is not available, the user needs to export their email identity first.

If you wish to remove a Lockbox user from your contact list, follow the below steps:
The contact is removed instantaneously after the confirmation.
The contact cannot be removed if the associated user still shares boxes with you.
