The graphical user interface (GUI) of the Lockbox Client is a file explorer-like interface with menus, toolbars, box navigation and file display areas.

The box navigation pane contains a tree-view of all boxes, sub-boxes and folders that are available to you. Navigate through the tree by clicking the expand/collapse icons infront of the tree nodes with your mouse and select an individual box/folder by directly clicking on its label. The contents of your selection is displayed in the file browser pane. The box navigation pane is located on the left-hand side.
The file browser pane is located in the centre right of the user interface. It enables you to browse through the files and folders of the currently selected box/folder. The file browser pane has two modes:
The main menu enables you to select global actions such as setting preferences, managing contacts or invitations, changing your passphrase and managing your credentials. It is located at the top of the user interface. The main menu contains the following menus:
The context menu provides access to actions and properties that are supported by a selected item. It is available for boxes, folders and files and can be open by a right-mouse click on the particular item. The context menu may vary depending on the actions and properties that are supported in a particular state of an item.
The toolbar provides easy access to a set of actions that can be performed on the files and folders that are currently active in the file browser pane. To perform an action, select the file or folder item on which you would like to perform the action and click the corresponding button in the toolbar. The toolbar is located on top of the breadcrumb bar just above the file browser pane.
The breadcrumb bar displays the path to the currently active folder in the file browser pane. It is located on top of the file browser pane.
The status box displays the current status of the Lockbox Client. There are three states:
